Originally named "The Frederiksted Hotel", this 32 room, 4 story, "in-town" hotel, was built sometime in the 1970's (date unknown at this time). The hotel was locally owned and managed for many years, and then eventually was sold to a Danish Family, the Vetter Family, who still own the hotel to date.
In April of 2016, the Vetter family, successful entrepreneurs in Europe, were unable to manage the hotel from Denmark, so they leased the building and the business to Paul Benedict, a local businessman. Remodeling of the rooms began the same month that Paul took over the hotel. Because of licensing laws in St Croix, Paul needed to rename the hotel since the Vetter family still needed to maintain their business license as the owners of the building under the name, The Frederiksted Hotel. After many hours of brainstorming, Paul decided on the name, The Inn on Strand Street.
Paul and his team of workers and designers, starting remodeling the hotel, room by room, in April of 2016, including the addition of a 4th floor penthouse and a 1st floor hostel.
In September of 2017, hurricane Maria devastated the town of Frederiksted and the island and town lost power for over 2 months. Once power was restored, the team quickly resumed the remodeling process including a new generator, new high speed internet, a state of the art security system, new outdoor furniture, a guest laundry area, a guest and hostel kitchen, and updated rooms.
